In the future, I want to be a Venture Capitalist but not for the title of VC, but for the privilege to help founders/builders/entrepreneurs to launch their ventures. But in order to do that, I want to "walk the talk":
I want to be in the field building a company from scratch.
This is one of the main reasons why I admire VCs from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), GGV Capital, Initialized, Greylock Ventures, Emergence Capital , First Round, Pear VC and many others.
You should be wondering why, right? It's very simple. Many of them have been so many times (some of them built one or 2 orgs) in the founders's shoes tackling the same problems:
- Hiring
- Raising funds
- Sales
- Setting the Go-To-Market strategy
- Building a new Category
- Creating a partner ecosystem
That's why, in order to do that, I want to build a company from scratch, at least as one of the founding members of the org or simply as an early employee.
So, it's time to build.
